Welcome to Year Three and Four

Class Teacher: Mrs Rowlands

Welcome to our Year 3 and 4 class!

Our classroom is a positive, nurturing environment where praise, encouragement, and support are central to everything we do. Learning is carefully tailored to meet each child's individual needs, helping them make the most of their education. We celebrate effort, achievement and a positive mindset every day.

Throughout the year, your child will be challenged to reach their full potential and encouraged to take part in all aspects of school life.

In Maths, we follow the White Rose Hub scheme of work and practise daily fluency using the NCETM Mastering Number programme.

In English, our curriculum is designed to engage and inspire, using exciting and innovative texts that meet the needs of all our learners.

Reading - Children should bring their reading book and reading record to school every day.  Regular reading at home is essential as it supports learning across the curriculum and helps develop vocabulary, spelling, and comprehension skills.  In addition to their home reader, pupils have access to the excellent Reading Plus programme online, which further supports fluency and comprehension. Reading records are checked weekly.

Spelling - Each week, children will receive a set of spellings based on the Year 3 & 4 Statutory Word List. These will be tested every Monday.  All spellings are also available on the Spelling Shed app for additional practice at home.

Homework – Think: Spellings, Reading, Times Tables!

Each week, children are expected to:

  • Practise their weekly spellings

  • Read their home reader regularly

* Complete activities on Reading Plus

* Practise multiplication and division facts using the Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) app

P.E. and Swimming

P.E. takes place on Wednesday afternoons. Please ensure your child has the correct kit in school, as it may also be needed for after-school clubs.

Swimming is on Thursdays. Children will need a swimming costume, towel, and hat. Goggles may also be worn if needed.

⚠️ For safety reasons:

* Long hair (shoulder-length or longer) must be tied back

  • No jewellery should be worn on P.E. or swimming days

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to speak to me at the classroom door, or message me via Seesaw.  To book a phone call or face-to-face meeting, please contact Mrs Wild at the school office.

Looking forward to a fantastic year ahead!
